For nearly four decades, I’ve been making candy as my love language. If you were part of my world, chances are you’ve been handed a bag of something sweet made straight from my kitchen. For years, friends and family asked, “Why don’t you sell this?” and for just as many years, I smiled and changed the subject.
Then came cottage food laws, a little encouragement, and one brave leap of faith.
I started with what I knew and loved—old-fashioned hard candy, chocolate, peanut brittle; nostalgic treats that feel like something your grandmother might have tucked into your hand with a wink.
Then came the unexpected plot twist: marshmallows.
Here’s the confession… I used to say I don’t like marshmallows. But homemade marshmallows and those store-bought little puffs? Bless their hearts. They are not the same thing.
One bite of a homemade marshmallow changed my mind—and apparently a whole lot of other people’s too.
Today, Apron String Confections is a blend of sweet tradition and playful creativity, where old-fashioned favorites meet fluffy little clouds of happiness, all made in small batches with heart. My hope is that every bite feels a little nostalgic, a little joyful, and maybe reminds you of simpler times.
Because the sweetest things in life are often the ones we never saw coming. 🍬🤍
